Epinal, France

null

I was in Epinal, France, La Crosse, Wisconsin's "sister city" in September for the dedication of my sculpture, The Lacrosse Players. We had just completed what we had been working on for a while; i.e., a sculpture exchange. The City of Epinal sent us the Pinau, a sculpture of a boy taking a thorn from his foot. (The name of the city comes from the word thorn.) The Pinau is their symbolic presence in La Crosse as The Lacrosse Players is also now in Epinal.

I was there for four days and they treated us royally (pardon the word) which included excellent food and drinks, concerts and introduction to their city's achievements, history and beauty.

Our visit coincided with the yearly celebration of the liberation of their city by American troops in World War II.
